On Monday, the day Richard Conniff’s essay “Oh, Sting, Where Is Thy Death?” was posted on Happy Days, the legendary skateboarder Andy Kessler was stung by an insect in Montauk, N.Y. He died a short time later because of an allergic reaction to the sting. He was 48.
Head over to NY Times to read the front page story “The End of Falling”.

We are saddened to report The Grandmaster of 108, Andy Kessler died today from an apparent allergic reaction to a sting from a hornet while on the Montauk peninsula. He was one of New York City’s legendary pioneers of its core skate scene in the 70s and in later years became a huge proponent of the skateboarding community and its culture in the Big Apple. He will be greatly missed. -Skate Daily
